Without qualitative as well as quantitative measures of project achievement, we fail to see the full picture – particularly in matters of women’s empowerment.
In the early 2000s, there were less than 10 community forests in the country. Now there are well over 600 thanks to local people being handed over responsibility for managing State forest.
Whatever definition considered suitable in the local context, the importance lies in tailoring our activities to ensure we reach the disadvantaged individuals.
Support for women in politics is encouraged in all our local governance projects. An Albanian project worked directly with different political parties, facilitating women’s political engagement through a Women in Politics Network (WiPN).
Many minds have been brought to bear on the financing of development activities promoting gender equality, and tools have been developed to track the flow of finances in a gender disaggregated manner through allocation, expenditure and verification.
