International Team Leader (F/M/D) - 100% based in Hanoi Vietnam

For our team based in Vietnam we are looking for an International Teamleader to join our organisation as per March or upon agreement.

YOUR MAIN TASKS

Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, in collaboration with our local partner, the Centre for Rural Economy Development (CRED), is implementing the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development Project (ST4SD) in Vietnam (2023-2027), funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The overall objective of the project is contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive tourism sector in Vietnam. In the long term, the ST4SD will support the creation of new livelihoods and sustainable economic development in Vietnam. The project will achieve this objective by focusing on three key outcomes:

  • Outcome 1 (macro level): National and subnational action plans, master plans and other policies include relevant actions, and decisions are taken and implemented to foster sustainable tourism development.
  • Outcome 2 (meso level): Vietnamese training institutions have been selected and strengthened to provide training and develop skills and expertise in sustainable tourism. 
  • Outcome 3 (meso and micro level): Tourism destinations and companies have become more sustainable in their operation and investments.

The ST4SD supports the implementation of relevant policies and strengthens public-private dialogue at both national and subnational level. It will establish a new Swiss Executive Hospitality Training (EHT) programme at a qualified Vietnamese training institution and create a network of experts from the Swiss and Vietnamese tourism sector, and promote innovative concepts for businesses and destination to strengthen sustainability, including the introduction of sustainability standards. The approach prioritises innovation, sustainability, and ‘Swissness,’ with active participation from two Swiss partners: EHL Business Hospitality School and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and

You lead the overall management of the project through high quality project

implementation, including administrative and financial supervision and coordination with partners and stakeholders, particularly

  • Provide strategic direction and technical support to contribute to the achievement of outcomes of the project.
  • Coach the project team and partners, fostering a productive working and learning environment, and promoting team spirit.
  • Manage the project successfully in implementation, finance, administration, human resources.
  • Strengthen the monitoring system, as well as knowledge management for steering, accountability and learning.
  • Assure synergies with other projects supported by SECO in Vietnam.
  • Represent the project to donors, partners, and others.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic qualifications (preferably Master’s degree) in Tourism and/ or Hospitality Management
  • At least 5 years of experience, with strong expertise in sustainable tourism development, tourism skills development, and collaboration with the public and private sectors in sustainable tourism.
  • Professional experience in Switzerland and developing countries, preferably in Asia. Particularly, experience in networking with international/Swiss private and public actors
  • Proven track record in managing large projects, and cooperating with a number of stakeholders and in strengthening/building the capacity of key partners.
  • Advanced knowledge and connections with Swiss expert institutions and networks.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, including result-oriented management, strategic planning, human resources management, and financial management skills. Ability to anticipate issues and identify proactive solutions.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, with strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English
