Thijs van der Velden

Thijs van der Velden is a WASH Advisor at Helvetas since May 2021, bringing 17 years of experience in international cooperation. After completing MSc degrees in Environmental Sciences & Policy and Biology, he worked for NGOs, the UN and as a consultant in water and environment with technical and managerial competencies built up while covering a wide range of topics including water safety management, sanitation & hygiene behaviour change, natural resources management and systems strengthening. He has worked in various countries in South- and South East Asia East, Southern Africa and Latin America. His thematic focus within the Water, Food and Climate team includes WASH and water governance.
