On the 30th of September and the 1st of October 2019, the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) programme funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by Helvetas Vietnam organized strategic sector-wide roundtables “BSOs & the future development of Furniture, Wood Industry and Value-Added-Textile” in Ho Chi Minh city.
Mr. Jonas Grunder, Deputy Head of Cooperation of SECO, Mr. Luong Pham, Country Director of Helvetas Vietnam and representatives from Vietnam Industry Agency, Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency together with representatives from BSO partners of the SIPPO Programme attended the seminars. The BSOs included branch of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh city (VCCI-HCM), Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA), (Binh Duong Furniture Association) BIFA, Forest Production Association of Binh Dinh (FPA), (Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association ) VITAS, and Viet Nam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFORES).
During two days, the participants updates and discussed the situation and context of the two sectors and relevant players, the role of BSOs, and how to make the BSOs play a central role of the sectors.
SIPPO has a mandate of a facilitator and commits to constantly support Vietnamese BSOs in developing capacity and strategic planning, strengthening the linkage between Government agencies, BSOs and enterprises.
