The Project Officer works in close collaboration with the Project Manager/s along with other project staff to provide effective, efficient programme and operational support to the projects in the field and ensure high standards of program delivery. He/she will be responsible for the following.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare and implement all project activities according to the approved work plan.
- Follow-up progress of project activities at the field level, implemented by partners.
- Assist partners in planning, management, implementation, monitoring of project activities.
- Ensure timely implementation of project activities, accuracy of financial and logistic aspects.
- Assist in field missions of HELVETAS/donor by providing information, necessary arrangements.
- Assist in organizing meetings with various stakeholders at the field level.
- Assist in organizing workshops, trainings, and other events according to the workplan.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating all project activities in coordination with MEL/Project Manager.
- Provides monthly reports, field reports and other relevant reports to the Project Manager.
- Assist in preparing quarterly, biannual, and annual project budgets & reports.
- Able to travel and work in designated geographic locations.
- Represent HELVETAS at local networks independently.
Qualifications:
- Sound Educational background preferably with a Diploma or Degree in relevant field.
- Sound knowledge & understanding of concepts and approaches related to peacebuilding, social cohesion and preventing violent extremism would be an advantage.
- Over 1-2 years proven work experience in similar capacity in a local NGO/ INGO sector.
- Experienced/trained on Project Management, leadership, facilitation, capacity building skills.
- Fair knowledge in budget management, fund flow checks, payment transactions, bid analysis, etc.
- Professional communication skills in Sinhala/Tamil, with adequate knowledge in English.
- Report writing skills to assess and evaluate program activities and outcomes.
- Good in facilitation, communication, networking, presentation techniques.
- A good team player, with ability to work collaboratively in diverse and multicultural environments.
- Sound working knowledge of MS packages, and ability to use social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Result oriented personality with strong organizational, time management skills.
