In the context of the implementation of the Skills for Youth in Mozambique (YES!) project, funded by Swiss Cooperation, Helvetas Mozambique signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Authority for Vocational Education (ANEP) on May 16, for implementation of the Acquired Skills Recognition System and the operationalization of the Community Skills Development Centres.
Helvetas Mozambique was represented at the event in Maputo by the National Director and his deputy, Juerg Merz and Maurício Negas, respectively, and Boaventura Nuvunga representing ANEP.
The implementation and operationalization of the Acquired Skills Recognition System as well as Community Skills Development Centres is an important step to ensure that youths trained outside of Vocational Education Institutions are officially recognized in Mozambique, in accordance with the National Professional Qualifications Framework (QNQP).
Extra-institutional vocational training, such as that promoted by the SIM! project, has been the solution for many vulnerable young people in rural areas to develop useful skills and abilities for their lives and the labor market.
