The provision of water and sanitation services and the construction of health infrastructures has improved considerably in Cabo Delgado province, as a direct result of the implementation of the Health Promotion project in that province since 2010, funded by the Swiss Embassy in Mozambique. This was confirmed by the Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, speaking during the meeting of the first Supervision Committee of the project, held on the 25th of this month in Pemba.

«In 2023, for example, the toilet and water harvesting and distribution source at the Ocua-Sede Health Center in the Chiúre district were rehabilitated by replacing the support structure and solar panels. During the same period, 155 communities were declared free of open defecation in the districts of Montepuez, Balama, Namuno, Chiúre, Ancuabe, Mecúfi and Metuge»
