In August 2024, the third phase of the Swiss Public Service Improvement Project was launched. This phase focuses on supporting the development and implementation of district-level waste management plans, as well as socio-economic development programs. Key districts have been selected where comprehensive work will be conducted with municipalities and district state administrations.
To ensure effective collaboration, memorandums of understanding have been signed between the Project and the district state administrations of Bakay-Ata district (Talas region), Chui district (Chui region), Ak-Suu and Jeti-Oguz districts (Issyk-Kul region), and Aksy and Nooken districts (Jalal-Abad region).
The third phase of the Project is planned to last four years. During this period, expert consultations, technical support, and grants will be provided to organize solid waste collection and disposal services at the district level. This will be implemented based on regional waste management plans, which must be approved in each district in accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Consumer and Industrial Waste" dated August 15, 2023.
The Public Service Improvement Project is funded by the Swiss Government and is implemented by Helvetas in collaboration with the Development Policy Institute.
